selection criteria

— In systematic reviews, characteristics of studies used to decide whether they should be included

Synonyms:

eligibility criteria, exclusion criteria, inclusion criteria

Full explanation:

Explicit criteria should be used to decide which studies should be included in a systematic review.

These should specify the types of People, Interventions (treatments), Comparisons, and Outcomes of interest (sometimes referred to as PICO) and the types of study designs that will be included.

Selection criteria can also be used as a synonym for eligibility criteria in studies; i.e. the characteristics used to decide whether people are eligible to participate in a study, and should be invited to participate.
