adverse effect

— Unwanted symptom or other experience in participants which happen as a result of a treatment or test



Full explanation:

Adverse effects are increases in undesirable outcomes (e.g more pain or more strokes), or decreases in desirable outcomes (e.g. worse vision or fewer healthy babies), that are attributed to the treatment in a study of treatment effects.
